Dr. Samar Muzaffar  

Samar Muzaffar, MD MPH currently works as EMS Medical Director for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and as a clinical instructor at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery.

Her areas of focus include systems development, injury and violence prevention, and emergency preparedness and disaster management. Her public heath experience includes developing clinic-based health promotion and disease prevention programs, qualitative assessments of clinic-based programs for the Baltimore Department of Health for performance improvement, analysis of road traffic injury patterns among children in under-developed nations, federal level work at the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, and a needs assessment of first responders in post-Katrina New Orleans.

She obtained her BA from Wellesley College. She completed her MD at The University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and her Masters in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She went on to her general surgery training at Case Western Reserve University’s University Hospitals of Cleveland and her Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Boston University’s Boston Medical Center. She also completed her Preventive Medicine training at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine.
