Dr. J. William “Bill” Jermyn   

The late J. William “Bill” Jermyn, DO, FACEP, had 33 years experience in EMS and 26 years as a practicing emergency physician in both rural and urban settings. Most recently, he served the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) as Immediate Past Chair of both the EMS Committee and the EMS/Prehospital Section, as a member of the Awards Committee and the Disaster Preparedness Committee, as Disaster Preparedness leader on the ACEP Report Card Task Force, and as a Missouri Councilor. He also performed multiple national liaison duties for the College, and previously served on the Trauma Care/Injury Prevention and Council Steering Committee.

He served three terms as ACEP representative to the Board of Directors for the Commission on Accreditation for Ambulance Services, having led the 2004 CAAS standards revision project. He also was co-chair of the NAEMSP/ACEP Task Force for Out-of-Hospital Specialty Board Certification.

He was a past-president of the Missouri College of Emergency Physicians, and had been re-elected to their Board of Directors. He served as the Chair of the Missouri State Advisory Council on EMS, was a recent member of the EMS Gathering of Eagles coalition, and was involved with numerous EMS projects at a state and national level. His areas of interest included large system design, value of accreditation, the political aspects of emergency healthcare, and a number of didactic areas within emergency medicine and disaster preparedness.

Dr. Jermyn most recently worked as the EMS Medical Director for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services during the week, and was an Instructor with the Division of Emergency Medicine at Washington University, Barnes Hospital in St. Louis on weekends. He is the originator of the Time Critical Diagnosis System concept that integrates trauma, stroke and STEMI system designs.
