The People
- Every year, ambulances transport more than 500,000 Missouri citizens (Source: Missouri UEMS statistics).
- Every year there are more than 2 million visits to emergency departments in Missouri (Source: Missouri Information for Community Assessment).
The Savings
- A 1% improvement in care for patients affected by motor vehicle crashes and other accidents, strokes, and heart disease can save 223 Missouri lives per year (Source: Missouri Information for Community Assessment).
- A 0.5% patient care improvement for ischemic heart/brain disease and trauma (8 diagnoses) can reduce acute care hospitalization charges by $15 million (Source: Missouri Information for Community Assessment).
- The 360°/365 EMCS initial proposal will be funded by a $112,000 allocation for UEMS and a $100,000 Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
